There are two sessions, both held in the back room at the Diggers pub (its real name is the Athletic Arms). The pub is at 1-3 Angle Park Terrace, Edinburgh, EH11 2JX

Monday evenings 7.30pm, running once a month on the second Monday of the month. This session is aimed at players who are new to playing in sessions.
Tuesday evenings  7.30pm, running once a month on the first Tuesday of the month. This session is aimed at players who are a little more experienced at playing together in sessions.

If you’d like to have your details added to an email list so we can notify you if the session is cancelled for any reason, please contact Fiona, who is organising this.

These sessions arose from the String Circle fiddle class, which started an evening session after their class. The sessions are a chance to play some leisurely tunes together. Over time many other players from outside the class have joined the sessions. You’re very welcome to come along and join in. It’s always lovely to have a chance to catch up with folk we haven’t seen in a while!

Getting there

Lothian bus routes 34 & 35 run past the pub, and any bus going up Dalry Road will take you within 2 minutes walk. There’s some on street parking on Angle Park Terrace, and also at the top of Henderson Terrace View Larger Map

There are plenty of different sessions in pubs around Edinburgh. Sandy Bells, the Royal Oak, and Captains Bar are good places to start – they all have music sessions several times a week. I’ve created a separate page with details of regular open folk music sessions that I’m aware of, that happen around Scotland.

If you’re unfamiliar with pub sessions, and would like to join in, it’s worth reading about session etiquette before you go.
