For the 2020 summer term we’re moving our fiddle class online

You’ll need your own instrument to attend these classes. There’s no need to be able to read music to join Fun Fiddle classes. See a short summary of the things the Improving Beginners class has covered in previous years

The improving beginners class is a continuation of the absolute beginner’s class which started in January 2019. The class is suitable for anyone who has already been learning for a couple of years and can pick up simple tunes on their own by ear.

Recordings of any new tunes will be sent out in advance of weekly classes for individuals to learn at home. In the classes this term we will focus on troubleshooting, looking at specific techniques, learning more about reading music, and different tune types and rhythms. We’ll also have plenty of fun while we pick up some more fiddle basics. Participants may be asked to play on their own on occasion during classes.

For our first class of the term, participants are asked to learn the Irish polka ‘Britches Full of Stitches’

Britches Full of Stitches – written music
